Ommatidia LiDAR at IOMAC 2025: Precision Laser Vibrometry for the Next Generation of Structural Dynamics

Ommatidia LiDAR is excited to announce its participation in the International Operational Modal Analysis Conference (IOMAC 2025), which will be held from May 20–23, 2025, at the Center at Rennes University, Rennes, France. As a leading provider of massively parallel FMCW LiDAR systems, Ommatidia will present the Q2 Laser RADAR at Booth 1. This powerful solution offers a new way to perform non-contact, high-speed operational modal analysis (OMA) across industries such as structural engineering, automotive, aerospace, and industrial monitoring.

Discover Ommatidia at IOMAC: Real-Time Vibration Insights Across 65 Channels

At Booth 1, visitors will get a hands-on demonstration of the Q2 Laser RADAR, Ommatidia’s advanced multi-beam laser system for real-time 3D vibrometry and structural health monitoring. With 65 simultaneous channels, this cutting-edge system removes the need for physical contact sensors or slow mechanical scanning. As a result, full-field dynamic testing can now be completed in just seconds.

What You’ll See in Action

  • Massively parallel LDV: Measure real-time vibrations at 65 points without repositioning.

  • Micro-Scanning & Autofocus: Get sharp measurements even on curved or shiny surfaces.

  • Instant Data Visualization: Powered by Atelier 8.0, with smooth integration into FEM/OMA software.

Q2 Laser RADAR: Changing the Way We Test Structures

The Q2 system combines Frequency-Modulated Continuous-Wave (FMCW) interferometry with laser Doppler velocimetry in a small, modular LiDAR platform. Because of this design, it works well in real-world conditions, scanning up to 50 meters while maintaining high accuracy on both still and moving targets.

Key Benefits:

  • Autofocus scanning for reliable results on complex surfaces

  • Micro-scanning for detailed vibration maps

  • Built-in RGB camera for visual alignment and data overlay

  • Atelier 8.0 for real-time measurement, shape analysis, and spectrum review

Where It’s Used: Industry Applications

Ommatidia LiDAR’s technology improves OMA workflows in many fields. Below are a few examples:

🚗 Automotive NVH & Chassis Dynamics

Identify resonance in electric vehicle bodies, improve sound insulation, and study vibration in BIW structures, engine mounts, and dashboards.

✈️ Aerospace Modal Testing

Measure vibration in wings, fuselage, or turbine parts—without needing surface prep. This speeds up testing and supports better fatigue analysis.

🏗️ Civil Infrastructure & Structural Monitoring

Scan bridges, buildings, or floors to understand their modal behavior and track long-term vibration-related fatigue.

🏭 Industrial Machinery & Maintenance

Monitor rotor balance, gear mesh issues, or other machine vibrations. This helps catch faults early and keep systems running smoothly.
