Patras Q2 workshop questions

See how participants moved from coherent multi-point acquisition to engineering-ready vibration maps on three structures.

What happened at the University of Patras workshop?

Ommatidia led a full-day Q2 vibrometry workshop at the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Aeronautics on 6 May 2025. Participants combined measurement setup, live acquisition and response analysis in one practical session.

Which objects were measured?

The workshop covered an aluminium aircraft tail stabilizer, a carbon-fibre tail boom for a fixed-wing UAV and an enclosed gearbox or drivetrain assembly, spanning lightweight aerospace structures and rotating equipment.

How did Q2 capture the vibration response?

Q2 acquired coherent line-of-sight velocity through 65 simultaneous optical channels. Micro-scanning added spatial points, producing synchronized time histories, spectra, modal-shape views and spatial RMS velocity maps.

Which engineering workflows can use these outputs?

The combined velocity, geometry and intensity data support modal analysis, operating-shape visualization, NVH investigation, structural comparison, rotating-machinery assessment and measurement-plan development. Point clouds connect each response directly to the measured geometry.
