Ommatidia powers lunar navigation with its compact, high-resolution LiDAR technology, enabling autonomous landings through real-time 3D surface reconstruction. In collaboration with TNO and under the TKI innovation program, Ommatidia’s ANT system was integrated into a lunar lander demonstrator, where it delivered critical point cloud data for precise descent and hazard detection. At the Technical University of Munich, Ommatidia LiDAR’s #Q2LaserRadar demonstrated its potential as a powerful tool for non-contact, high-resolution monitoring of physiological motion. In collaboration with Prof. Dr. Daniel Rixen’s team, Q2 successfully captured vibration signatures associated with abdominal aortic aneurysms — without touching the patient.
Designed for industrial precision but adapted for biomedical needs, Q2 delivered sub-mm/s sensitivity, 3D point-cloud geometry, and rapid scan times, showing how photonics can bridge the gap between academic research and real-world clinical innovation.
