Ommatidia Presents at Laser World of Photonics 2025: Integrated Photonics Powering the Future of LiDAR

Last month, Ommatidia LiDAR proudly took the stage at Laser World of Photonics 2025, where our colleague Francis (Yu) Tian, Opto-Electronic Engineer, delivered a presentation during the Integrated Photonics Applications session. This event was hosted by the EPIC – European Photonics Industry Consortium and brought together leaders from across the photonics industry.

Driving Innovation Through Integrated Photonics

In his talk, titled “Lightfield LiDAR based on Integrated Optics,” Francis explored how integrated photonics is transforming LiDAR technology. Thanks to advances in this field, modern LiDAR systems can now become faster, smaller, and easier to scale—without compromising performance.

As a result, new sensing systems are being developed that offer both high precision and field-ready portability. One of the clearest examples of this is our latest product, the Q2 Laser RADAR.

Introducing the Q2 Laser RADAR: Compact, Precise, and Scalable

The Q2 Laser RADAR was designed to deliver the best of both worlds: lab-grade accuracy and rugged usability. Built on a photonic integrated circuit (PIC), it supports real-time, multi-beam scanning with remarkable resolution.

Here’s what makes it stand out:

  • 65+ laser beams working at once for faster 3D coverage

  • Micron-level measurement accuracy for fine metrology

  • Non-contact 3D scans at distances of up to 50 meters

  • Lightweight design under 7 kg for easy transport and setup

In other words, Q2 helps engineers and researchers scan, measure, and monitor structures with speed and confidence—whether in a lab or in the field.
