Inspection of Windscreen Bonding Using multi beam Laser Doppler Vibrometry Technology

Key Facts during the inspection

Over the years, multiple manufacturers have recalled vehicles due to inadequate windscreen or glazing adhesion, affecting to hundreds of thousands of vehicles. These events underline the need for reliable, in-line, non-destructive inspection methods capable of verifying bonding quality before vehicles leave the production line.

By analyzing the vibration spectrum and its spatial distribution, failure points and weak adhesion areas can be detected quantitatively.

This application note presents a proof-of-principle study demonstrating the feasibility of using Laser RADAR vibrometry for full non-contact inspection of windscreen bonding integrity.
